To all- Below are the final versions of the resolutions approved by the membership at the meeting of Feb. 6-7 for your reference. Please note any errors to me. Hopefully, the wording is as everyone remembers from their notes.

CALIFORNIA PART-TIME FACULTY ASSOCIATION
SPRING , 1999
APPROVED RESOLUTIONS

R1. Lobby Day. Be it resolved that the CPFA will actively support the May 1999 Lobby Day.

R2. Pro-Rata Pay Legislation. Be it resolved that the CPFA supports the concept of 100% Pro Rata Pay for part-time faculty in the state of California.

R3. Part-Time Faculty Seniority Legislation. Be it resolved that the CPFA supports the concept of:

AB954 (vetoed 1998) Part-Time Faculty. Provides that part-time faculty who have taught each regular quarter or semester in the current and preceding three consecutive academic years, shall have a preferred right to future reappointment for part-time faculty positions. However, this cannot interfere with the rights of contract employees, and a district may waive this provision if it notifies an employee by March 15 that the district has decided not to offer reemployment.

and supports new legislation based on this concept.

R4. Strengthening Part-Time Faculty Health Care and Office Hour Legislation. Be it resolved that the CPFA supports legislation to strengthen part-time faculty Health Care and Office Hours.

R5. Part-Time Faculty Jobs. Be it resolved that CPFA take a watch position with regard to the $40 million budget allocation proposed in the BOG 1999 budget proposal for hiring full-time faculty system-wide, and support this allocation if it is connected to a preference toward hiring current part-time faculty, with appropriate attention to diversity.

R6. Legislative Intent. Be it resolved that the CPFA seek a comprehensive legislative solution to the complex issues deriving from the use of part-time faculty in California Community Colleges, and be it further resolved that such legislative action should repeal the current CCC two-tiered faculty employment system, thereby establishing professional equity among all faculty and access to full-service faculty for all California Community College students.

R7. Motto. Be it resolved that the motto of the CPFA shall be "Faculty Working Conditions are Student Learning Conditions".

R8. Newspaper. Be it resolved that the name of the CPFA newspaper shall be "CPFA Pro News".

R9. Diversity in CCC's. Be it resolved that, CPFA in conjunction with its mission, support the recent decision by Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Lloyd G. Connelly affirming the pursuit of diversity within the Community Colleges, and be it further resolved that CPFA supports the California Community College system's current policy with regard to the pursuit of diversity.

R10. COFO Faculty Equity Statement. Be it resolved that, CPFA support the COFO Faculty Equity Statement in principle, and work toward this statement's full implementation in its policies and practices.
